Hi, I'm Chavez. > And I'm Kyrie. We'll be your guides for this virtual tour at Corban University in Salem, Oregon. > We're excited to show you around campus and we hope you love Corban as much as we did. > I chose Corban because its mission is clear: to educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ. > Corban's mission is at the core of everything we do. We don't just talk about the Bible. We learn how to live it out every day in every aspect of our lives. > So if you're ready, let's get going. > This is Schimmel Hall, the main administration building. Corban's President and Corbin graduate, Dr. Sheldon Nord, has his office here, along with others who can help you with scholarships, registration, class schedules. > And financial aid Corbin will work with you to make that happen. > Right now we're on lower campus heading to Corban's newest building, the Younger Center. > And if you're an athlete like me, you might miss class for games. The Younger Center is where you can come and catch up on extra study time. Here, we have computers and tutors and you can become a tutor and pick up some extra cash. Parents always appreciate that. > The Blue Building on lower campus is our music house. And the best part is everyone can use it, not just music students. > The Student Life House is where they coordinate chapel community service and host student leadership groups. > Corban has over 50 majors and programs of study. So we're heading up to the Academic Center where a few classrooms and faculty offices are located. > By the way, if you haven't noticed, Corban sits on a hillside so getting around will be a workout and in four short years you'll earn your degree and your Corban calves. > Along with missions trips and Corban study abroad program, the classroom is a place where you'll be challenged academically and to grow in your faith. The average class size is 18. And the student faculty ratio is 12:1. > I learned early on that the professors do care about their students. They're available for mentoring, academic advice, and help us with research projects. > As an extra bonus, the faculty is connected to companies and organizations in the area that could lead to internships or even jobs after you graduate. > Corban is more than just a university that has Christian professors and classes. > The Bible is integrated into everything we do here. Every relationship and every activity. > So when you leave Corban you will be prepared to make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ. > Here we are at the Klatch, a year round gathering place for hanging out, doing homework, or attending school events like Worship Nights. > It's right next to the amphitheater. On a nice day, this is our backyard park. > This is also the point of the tour where if you were here, we could stop and grab a cup of coffee. > Corban University is located on 220 beautiful acres in Salem. Surrounded by hiking trails and only about an hour to the beach, the mountains, and an international airport. And a convenient 3,239 miles from my home in Kingston, Jamaica. > Corban has been ranked as the safest campus in Oregon and one of the top 10 safest colleges in America. > The Prayer Chapel is that place where you can reflect, be refreshed, and have some quiet time with the Lord. > Dorm life is where you'll make best friends and memories for a lifetime. There are five dorms on campus. Two gender specific, and three co-ed dorms, where men and women are split by wings or floors. Each dorm has a lobby, a kitchen, and laundry facilities. There's an RA on every floor. My RA was my first friend on campus. Each of our dorm buildings is unique. And after a few talent shows, group dinners, and Bible studies, you'll think your dorm is the best. > Welcome to one of my favorite places. The gym has a full weight room, and basketball and volleyball courts. There are 17 sports teams on campus. And for students who don't want to compete, intramurals really bring out the warrior spirit. > Today we've talked about professors, academics, and campus life. But we always end our tours at the Psalm Center because our faith in Jesus Christ is at the very core of everything we do here. It is here that we have chapel three times a week. Though optional for students, it is an important aspect of our discipleship model here at Corban. > Chapel is a good time to just slow down, and it always challenges me to dig deeper into God's word, and to become more like Christ. > We hope you come to love Corban, the way we love Corban. > Corban is a place where dreams are pursued. Your faith will grow and it will inspire you to make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.
