The Arts

Corban Theatre Arts provides a platform for students to use their talents to serve God in creative productions that display truths about the human condition, the world we live in, and the power of redemption. Each fall and spring, Corban Theatre performs a comedy, tragedy, drama, or musical.

Music ensembles at Corban are open to all students, not just music majors: Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra. Annually, the music department hosts a Christmas Showcase and Hymn Festival, in addition to seasonal concerts.

Here at Corban we really value the arts in general. And we see theatre as one of the ways that students are able to access what God created them to be, and express it in an act of gifting something to the community. We do two shows every year. And we try to make them something that offers both an acting opportunity to our actors, and offers a lot of pleasure and enjoyment to our audience. --and our music department offers of right a wide variety of musical ensembles. We have jazz band. We have orchestra. We have concert band. We have concert choir, and we have chamber choir. All of our music classes are available to any student that's interested as long as they meet the prerequisites. And a lot of people like to take private lessons on their favorite instrument as well. And those are available to anyone who wants to. We're a smaller school and so the opportunities for you are bigger than what they would be at a larger university. Find a way to pick music and to rehearse in such a way that it welcomes everyone-- that it gives higher level players and lower level players a chance to develop in sort of a space that that works for them. Developing fully, you know as a as a human, I think requires some aspect of the arts of creativity. God created us in his image. We are these creative beings. Being involved in the arts, supporting the arts is an essential part for believers to come to a clearer and deeper intimacy and understanding of God.
