Value of a Christian Education

It is our goal that every student leave Corban with an excellent education and a growing, vibrant faith. Each student, staff, and faculty member at Corban loves Jesus, and we are dedicated to helping students develop a deeper understanding of God’s Word and a passion for serving Him.

A Christian education from Corban means that our students are equipped with intellectual and professional competence so that any work they do—whether in science, business, education, or history—will be done to the glory of God. Our graduates are men and women who truly fulfill Corban’s mission and “make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.”

Hi, I'm Tom Cornman and I serve as the Provost here at Corban University. I want to thank you for considering Corban University for your student. We are so honored that you would take the time to look at us as an option for their future education. Corban University is a distinctly Christ centered institution of higher learning. And because of that, we require a testimony of faith of every one of our students. This allows us to work on discipleship so that we can help them grow and mature in who they are in Jesus Christ. At the same time, we understand that this is a institution of higher education. And our desire is to work to provide for your student a quality education that allows them to grow and develop as educated people who are ready to make a difference in the world. And for those who will also be able to begin a career in their chosen field upon completion of their degree.

We know that Christ centered education is ultimately about the student. And as a result, it is our desire to have faculty who grow in their understanding of who Jesus Christ is. Who are fully committed to involvement in their local church, and want to grow and develop personally in both the areas of biblical integration and subject matter expertise.

As a Christ centered institution, our desire is to help your students grow and mature and learn and develop. Not just intellectually, but spiritually as well. We are committed to their spiritual transformation as they begin their journey of higher education. Ability to integrate every aspect of their life with the message of the gospel and biblical truth. As a result, we expect that our students will take an understanding of the Bible and what it means in their lives and how it calls them to action into their work life, into their church life, into their social life, into all aspects of who they are. We call this a congruence of living. At a Christian university like Corban, we also want to provide the opportunity for our students to engage in moral reflection, and to develop in the spiritual disciplines. The central feature of this Corban education is the desire that we have to create thoughtful and intelligent Christians who know who they are in Christ, and have developed the capacity to be world class in their choices of career. We also anticipate that they will leave us prepared to make a difference in their church community. Because we believe that's part of this holistic life of being a Christian.

For us, as an evangelical institution of higher learning, we believe in three basic principles. It is our desire that in each of our students, upon the completion of their education, we can demonstrate that they have developed the character that they should as a Christian, that they have competence in their field of study, and that they know who they are in Jesus Christ. Again, we'd like to thank you for taking the time to look at Corban as an option for your young daughter or young son. Thank you.
